Community Engagement and Environmental Justice Regulations for City of Boston Wetlands Ordinance

The City of Boston is working to update the Environmental Justice and Climate Resilience regulations under the City’s Wetlands Ordinance.

These regulations will inform how the City’s Conservation Commission reviews and approves projects near wetlands, focusing on protecting both the environment and the communities most affected by climate change. Siler Climate Consulting is leading a team that includes StarLuna Consulting and Noble, Wickersham, and Heart to lead the community engagement process for Phase III regulations and develop a Framework of Environmental Justice values, goals, outcomes, and strategies. This work will provide actionable guidance for Conservation Commission staff and members to implement their responsibilities under the Wetlands Protection Act and the 2019 Boston Wetlands Ordinance with an emphasis on Climate Equity and Environmental Justice.
